Campaign Trail Book Report
Reading and education are the building blocks to success in our country, and reading can be a very enjoyable and rewarding lifelong activity. I would encourage every parent to read with their child and every teen to spend more time reading books and learning the lessons that they can teach. I enjoy reading books about history, including biographies of historic figures and baseball players. One of my favorites is The Raven: A Biography of Sam Houston by Marquis James.
I also recommend:
- The Good Life and Its Discontents: The American Dream in the Age of Enlightenment, 1945-1995 by Robert J. Samuelson
- The Dream and the Nightmare: The Sixties' Legacy to the Underclass by Myron Magnet
My favorite books for children include:
- The Very Hungry Caterpillar by Eric Carle
- My Side of the Mountain by Jean Craighead George
- Tuck Everlasting by Natalie Babbitt
- The Wind in the Willows by Kenneth Grahame
- Just So Stories by Rudyard Kipling
