Campaign Trail Book Report

George W. BushReading and education are the building blocks to success in our country, and reading can be a very enjoyable and rewarding lifelong activity. I would encourage every parent to read with their child and every teen to spend more time reading books and learning the lessons that they can teach. I enjoy reading books about history, including biographies of historic figures and baseball players. One of my favorites is The Raven: A Biography of Sam Houston by Marquis James.

I also recommend:

  • The Good Life and Its Discontents: The American Dream in the Age of Enlightenment, 1945-1995 by Robert J. Samuelson
  • The Dream and the Nightmare: The Sixties' Legacy to the Underclass by Myron Magnet

My favorite books for children include:

Just So Stories

  • The Very Hungry Caterpillar by Eric Carle
  • My Side of the Mountain by Jean Craighead George
  • Tuck Everlasting by Natalie Babbitt
  • The Wind in the Willows by Kenneth Grahame
  • Just So Stories by Rudyard Kipling
