Is There Life After Potter?

These books will whisk you away to distant lands filled with suspense and mystery, fright and delight. They're rife with fascinating characters that will beguile you... or (gasp!) terrify you. So enjoy some fascinating reading while you await Harry's next adventure, and realize that, page after page, there is life after Potter! Golden Compass, by Philip Pullman
The Golden CompassThe first in a trilogy (the third book is due out this Fall), Pullman weaves a rich, believable world much like our own -- except that every human has their own animal "daemon" with them at all times. Our heroine, Lyra Belacqua, a 12-year-old orphan, and her daemon, Pantalaimon, take us on a wild, constantly surprising, and action-packed adventure.

Redwall, by Brian Jacques
RedwallThis is the first of 12(!) books about the peace-loving but mighty mice of Redwall Abbey. Mythical and witty, Jacques provides readers with thrilling, relentless action, as Cluny the Scourge -- an evil, one-eyed rat warlord -- attempts to capture Redwall Abbey. The Book of Three, by Lloyd Alexander

The Hobbit, by J.R.R. Tolkien
